Outreach Youth Worker

Oriveden city is seeking an Outreach Youth Worker for a permanent position covering the Orivesi area and Juupajoki municipality. Outreach youth work is youth work whose central task is to reach at‑risk youths under 29 who are at risk of social exclusion and help them access services and other support that promote their growth, independence, and access to education and the labor market. The work is done in cooperation with other parties working with youths. About 20% of working time is used to coordinate the Orivesi area guidance operations and to work with young adults in job coaching. The job coaching is goal‑oriented and individual support intended to help the youth find, obtain, and keep a job, a study place or a work trial placement. The qualification requirement is a suitable polytechnic degree, a previous equivalent vocational degree or other training suitable for the task. An outreach youth worker is expected to be able to meet youths facing difficult life situations in a constructive manner. Prior experience with youths, coaching or individual coaching, as well as guidance/mentoring method skills and knowledge of networks in outreach work, are seen as advantages. The job requires good social skills, initiative, resilience and ability to work both independently and in a team. Two permanent youth workers perform the outreach work; the work area includes Orivesi city and Juupajoki municipality. The outreach worker works as part of the youth services team and the workplace is at the Youth Campus. The job involves traveling and may include evening and weekend work. Having access to a personal car is required.
