The City of Porvoo's early childhood education services are seeking a Social Worker in Early Childhood Education for a fixed-term contract from September 14, 2026, to July 28, 2027. The primary place of work for the social worker is the 3-5-year-old group at Huhtinen Day Care Center. Huhtinen Day Care Center was completed in August 2025 and provides excellent facilities for high-quality early childhood education. The environment offers great outdoor and sports opportunities. We listen to the child, and they are heard. Together with parents, we create a positive growth environment where the child's independence gradually increases and they learn to consider other people. The child is accepted as their own valuable self. The child's individuality is respected, and their strengths are articulated to convince the child of their own strengths. The development of the child's personal characteristics is supported. Space is given for discussions. The activities are based on the children's interests. Play develops by utilizing the children's imagination. Every moment during the child's early childhood education day is meaningful. As a social worker in early childhood education, you will be responsible, together with the early childhood education teacher, for the cooperation with guardians and multidisciplinary cooperation regarding the well-being of the children in your group. You will bring communal, societal, and socio-pedagogical perspectives to the pedagogical work, promoting equality and the realization of the child's participation in the group's activities. In this role, you will be involved in developing the work of social workers in the City of Porvoo. In addition to the work community and supervisor, early childhood education experts and a special education teacher for early childhood education will support your work. Eligibility is based on the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). The new Huhtinen Day Care Center is two stories. The group rooms for older children are located upstairs, so the stairs are used several times a day. The person hired for the position must have good physical functional capacity. Huhtinen Day Care Center is bilingual, so Swedish language skills are considered an advantage. Working hours: 38.25h/week. Salary according to the KVTES level salary. The salary for a social worker meeting the eligibility requirements is €2,993.71–3,116.00/month. Before the selection is confirmed, the selected person must present a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002) and show an approved tuberculosis infection screening questionnaire in accordance with Section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act. The probationary period is half the duration of the employment relationship, however, a maximum of 6 months.
