The Meilahti pathology laboratory of the HUS Diagnostics Center offers a unique opportunity to influence operational development, support staff, and plan future premises. HUS Diagnostics Center is Finland's leading provider of clinical laboratory and imaging services. Our primary area of operation is the specialized medical care of the HUS group and the primary healthcare of the wellbeing services counties belonging to HUS. We are also responsible for the laboratory and imaging operations of the Kymenlaakso and South Karelia wellbeing services counties. We operate in eight medical specialties. Nationally, we are responsible for several examinations requiring special expertise, as well as research and teaching belonging to the university hospital. Diagnostic examinations play a central role in confirming and ruling out diseases, as part of treatment, and in treatment monitoring and screening. Approximately 3,300 laboratory and imaging experts work at HUS Diagnostics Center across over 150 locations. We are seeking an Assistant Head Nurse for a versatile and responsible position in the pathology responsibility area of the Diagnostics Center, at the Meilahti pathology laboratory. In addition to the basic pathology laboratory process of histology and cytology, the pathology laboratory process includes special laboratory processes, such as extensive immunohistochemistry. Your key tasks as an Assistant Head Nurse include: * preparation of procurements and orders * participation in tenders * participation in shift planning * orientation of students and new employees, and the planning and development of orientation together with the work community * acting as a reviewer for purchase invoices * communication with stakeholders * Collaboration with staff in process development is a central part of your work. As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will also participate in the work tasks of the clinical pathology laboratory process. We require extensive experience in pathology as well as chemical expertise, and previous experience in responsible work tasks. Management skills and experience are considered an advantage.
