Pathologist

Etelä-Savon hyvinvointialue Eloisa seeks two pathology specialists for permanent positions starting 2 November 2026 or as agreed. Work can be largely remote after orientation. Part-time possible. The employer has two laboratories, in Mikkeli and Savonlinna hospitals. Your main work location will be Mikkeli Central Hospital. The job is a varied pathology role together with the chief physician and experienced laboratory staff. The laboratory also has a specialty trainee clinical biologist. Hospitals provide services in all specialties except neurosurgery. Specimen material includes biopsies, small surgical resections, and cancers: breast cancer, skin cancer, and colorectal cancer. Autopsy work is outsourced, but autopsies can also be performed. Eloisa supports training outside the workplace and encourages physicians to continuously develop their professional skills; opportunities to participate in national and international training. Salary is very competitive: for specialist doctors with under 10 years since qualification, 8,656.78 €/month; for specialist doctors with demanding tasks after 10 years, 9,068.41 €/month; for specialist doctors with very demanding tasks, 9,480.05 €/month. The position can be finite or permanent, including a possibility for a doctor in late-stage pathology specialization to work independently, with salary 6,289.61 €/month if over 3 years since licensure, or 7,784.93 €/month when the specialist exam is passed. The position can be offered temporarily to a doctor who is capable of independent work in late-stage pathology if no qualified applicant is available.
