Role highlights: Engineering Lead, Electronics Location: Warsaw, Poland Department: Engineering / Optical Systems Reports to: Director of Engineering Employment type: Permanent Workplace model: Hybrid Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required) Why this role matters: As Engineering Lead, Electronics, you will lead the team responsible for the payload electronics of ICEYE's new optical satellite platform, taking ownership of the electronics design from early concept through to production and in-orbit operation. Acting as the satellite's main electronics authority, you will drive the architecture and hands-on engineering decisions behind the payload while also building and managing a small, growing team of electronics engineers. You will combine technical depth with day-to-day leadership, setting the standard for how the team designs, builds, and delivers electronics that need to work reliably and deliver exceptional performance. You will work in a fast iteration design cycle where understanding the system and speed of development matter the most. Who We Are ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth. ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system. ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future. Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Your day-to-day responsibilities - Lead a small, growing electronics team, covering tasking, hiring, and day-to-day people management, while staying hands-on with the technical work alongside them. - Be the technical leader for the electronics architecture of the optical satellite, owning design end to end, from schematics through layout, bring-up, and into production and in-orbit operations. Given the size of the team, you're expected to be actively involved in the hands-on design work, not only in setting direction. - Deriving what the system needs to do, translating those requirements into the electronics design, driving R&D on new concepts and upholding a high bar for how boards are designed across high-speed, power, and harness work. - Investigating on-ground and on-orbit anomalies. - Driving a fast, iterative design process. From right architectural decisions through culture setting to supplier management. - Mentoring junior team members. What we’re looking for Must haves: - Expert, hands-on skills in electronics design, spanning schematics through layout, bring-up, production, and operations, across a broad cross-section of high-speed design, power electronics, and harness. - Ability to understand a satellite system end to end, deriving electronics requirements from it, and owning the electronics architecture of the payload as its main electronics authority. - People-oriented leadership, comfortable managing and growing a small team, including hiring and day-to-day people management. - Embracing the challenge, with a preference for simple designs that work reliably in all conditions over unnecessary complexity, and a mindset of owning problems and solving them. - No space experience required. Nice to haves: - Experience with optical sensors. Application Process - Talent Attraction Screening - Hiring Manager Screening - Onsite workshop + Technical discussion - Interview with Leadership Working at ICEYE At ICEYE, you’ll join a diverse and highly engaged team united by the ambition to make the impossible possible. As a global scale-up, we combine speed and ambition with the opportunity to take real ownership from day one.
