Tiedekirjasto Tritonia is a separate institution of the University of Vaasa, providing library and information services as well as open science services to the University of Vaasa, Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, and Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa and Pietarsaari. We are looking for a Director to be responsible for the development and management of Tritonia Academic Library. The employment is permanent and begins in September 2026 or as agreed. Your Tasks As the Director of the Academic Library, you are responsible for the library's operations, finances, and the implementation of the strategy. You play a key role in promoting the conditions for research, teaching, and learning. You are supported by a steering group consisting of representatives from the academic library agreement parties. Key tasks include: - strategic and operational management of the library - development of support services for research and teaching - promotion of digital and open science services - personnel management, competence development, and support for work well-being - budgeting and resource management - cooperation with the university/organization management as well as national and international networks In this position, you report to the Vice Rector for Research at the University of Vaasa. What we expect from you We are looking for a director who has: - a suitable higher university degree (e.g., information or library sciences, or another field suitable for the position) - strong experience in managing an expert organization - understanding of the role of academic libraries in supporting research and teaching - experience in developing digital services and open science - excellent interaction, cooperation, and communication skills - strategic thinking and a development-oriented approach - fluent skills in Finnish, English, and Swedish Experience in the higher education world is considered an advantage. Remuneration The position is placed at demand level 13 of the university's remuneration system for other expert and support staff.
