Welcome to the early childhood education teacher position at Laajasuo Daycare! We are looking for a permanent early childhood education teacher for a 3-5-year-old children's group. At Laajasuo Daycare, you will be part of a warm and community-oriented work community that values pedagogical expertise, development-mindedness, and sensitive interaction with children. During the 2026-2027 season, our lower floor will host 1-3-year-old groups and the upper floor will host 3-5-year-old groups. The groups are built from teams of two adults. Our clear structures and effective operating models enable smooth daily routines and versatile use of spaces. Our daycare is located conveniently accessible by bus, train, or Raide-Jokeri. This season, our pedagogical focus is on enriching and developing play and learning environments and promoting children's agency in everyday situations. This year, our city-wide goal is to promote literacy, which is reflected in various measures in our early childhood education activities. Children are met with sensitivity, equality, and by recognizing each child's strengths. We want to build a daily life where children feel safe to grow, learn, and be heard. As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible for building the operational culture and learning environment of your children's group, planning, implementing, developing, and evaluating pedagogical activities, and supporting individual learning according to Helsinki's early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the unit’s operational plan, and the child's Vasu. Qualifications: You must have a qualification according to the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a transitional provision (Section 75) with a Bachelor's degree in Education (lto), a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or an equivalent previous qualification, e.g., kindergarten teacher or social educator (Act 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). Recognition of foreign education by the Finnish National Agency for Education also fulfills the qualification requirement. Additionally, good oral and written skills in Finnish are required. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis certificate for working with underage children will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). Starting a permanent employment as a teacher at Helsinki City in 2026 includes a one-time incentive of 2000 euros, paid only once to the same person.
