
Biodiversity Finance Coordinator
The UNDP is recruiting a Biodiversity Finance Coordinator for the implementation of the Umbrella GEF8-BFP program in Mauritania. The coordinator is responsible for the overall supervision and management of activities in the country, ensuring that an appropriate work plan and budget are in place and implemented within the set deadlines. Key Responsibilities: - Project Management: Supervise the selection and supervision of national consultants; develop and revise work plans and budgets; organize workshops involving government, private sector, NGOs, and academia; maintain communication with Ministries of Finance and Environment. - Technical Leadership: Act as the primary technical contact for GPMTSU; provide quality control for the four main project deliverables; support data collection and analysis for biodiversity expenditure reviews. - Reporting and Communication: Supervise monitoring and evaluation; write monthly and quarterly reports; prepare press releases and web products. - Capacity Building: Identify training needs and organize workshops to strengthen national capacities and promote UNDP's work. Qualifications: - Education: Master's degree in environment, natural resource management, biodiversity, political science, economics/finance, or related field. A Bachelor's degree with 2 additional years of experience is also considered. - Experience: Minimum 2 years (with Master's) or 4 years (with Bachelor's) of relevant experience in environmental, biodiversity, climate change, or sustainable finance projects. - Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel), experience in team management, and project management (planning, coordination, budgeting).

Responsibilities
- Supervise the identification, selection and management of national consultants
- Develop and revise project work plans and budgets
- Organize consultative workshops with government, private sector, NGOs and academia
- Coordinate the production of policy reviews, biodiversity expenditure reviews and financial needs assessments
- Prepare the Biodiversity Finance Plan and identify necessary financial solutions
- Act as the primary technical contact for the Global Project Management and Technical Support Unit (GPMTSU)
- Supervise project monitoring, reporting and evaluation, including monthly and quarterly reports
- Identify capacity building needs and organize relevant training and workshops
- Promote UNDP's work and collaboration opportunities with project partners and stakeholders
Requirements
- Master's degree in environment, natural resource management, biodiversity, political science, economics/finance or related field (or Bachelor's with 2 additional years of experience)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (with Master's) or 4 years (with Bachelor's) in environmental, biodiversity, climate change or sustainable finance projects
- Proficiency in MS Office with advanced Excel skills
- Experience in team management and supervision of technical assessments
- Experience in project management including planning, multi-stakeholder coordination, budgeting and deadline management
- Fluency in spoken and written French
