About the role

We are seeking an early childhood education teacher starting in August 2026 for two 3-5-year-old groups. The 4-5-year-old group operates in the same cell as the pre-primary groups, and the 3-4-year-old group in the 3-5-year-old cell. Groups collaborate closely within cells and have a great community spirit. At Soittaja, there is a lot of movement using the excellent opportunities in the immediate environment. Movement is emphasized, and we have acquired winter sports equipment; skiing and skating were hits last winter. The nearby railway allows the use of all of Helsinki as a learning environment, with trips to Harakka island, museums, and exhibitions. We have also produced art for the Lux Helsinki event with the neighboring service house. Daycare Soittaja is a centrally located, Swan-certified new building opened in January 2024 in Kannelmäki. We value childhood as a unique stage of life. Play is central, and learning environments are designed with children. Every child is met as an individual with their own strengths. Children are divided into four cells, each with its own lobby and exit. There are four groups with their own spaces and a shared hall. The yard is very popular with game areas and a fenced area for smaller children. There are excellent hiking opportunities to forests, playgrounds, Kanneltalo events, the library, and a large sports field. We encourage co-teaching and assign a mentor to every new teacher. A special education teacher provides strong support. From next autumn, an assistant director will work alongside the director. The work community is open, humorous, and diverse. We value solution-orientedness, good interaction skills, and a positive attitude. As an early childhood education teacher, you are responsible for the group's operational culture, learning environment, pedagogical planning, implementation, development, and evaluation, and supporting individual learning according to Helsinki's plans. Eligibility: Qualification according to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a Bachelor's degree in Education (LTO), a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or an earlier equivalent degree (e.g., kindergarten teacher or social educator). Recognition of foreign education by the National Agency for Education is also accepted. Additionally, good oral and written Finnish is required. A valid criminal record extract for working with children and a tuberculosis clearance for respiratory organs are required. Starting a permanent employment as an early childhood education teacher with the City of Helsinki in 2026, we offer a 2000 euro incentive bonus. The bonus is paid only once per person.
