About the role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Executive Director to lead and develop Kuurojen Liitto, a national expert NGO dedicated to the rights and equal opportunities of deaf people and sign language users. The role encompasses strategic and operational leadership of the organization, leading the board and supervising staff, planning, monitoring and developing activities, budgeting and fundraising, and stakeholder collaboration and advocacy. The successful candidate will bring broad experience from the NGO sector and leadership, strong knowledge of sign language culture and community, and excellent communication and collaboration skills. The position requires a suitable university degree and a demonstrated track record in member-led development, financial management and successful change leadership, along with experience in funding mechanisms (STEA, ministries, EU). Proficiency in Finnish or Finnish-Swedish sign language and good Finnish and Swedish language skills are essential; knowledge of other languages is a plus. We value creativity and the ability to lead strategically, inspiringly and inclusively in a changing operating environment. We offer a unique opportunity to work at the heart of Finnish civil society and advocacy work, with the board and staff to develop and reform the federation in a changing socio-economic environment. The place of work is the federation’s main office in Valkeat talo in Helsinki. Start date is November 2026 or by agreement.
