Special Education Teacher

The municipality of Sodankylä is seeking a permanent Special Education Teacher for its basic education. The position is located at Tähtikunnan school in the center of Sodankylä. Tähtikunnan school is a comprehensive school for approximately 600 students, commissioned in 2022. Job duties Duties include: · Special education teacher duties in basic education for both primary and lower secondary levels. · Cooperation with colleagues and a multidisciplinary team. · Participation in a wellbeing-supporting operational culture and the development of the unit. Requirements The applicant is required to have: · Qualifications in accordance with Decree 986/1998. · Good knowledge of the curriculum and familiarity with changes in learning support. · Up-to-date ICT skills and organizational ability. · Good interaction and cooperation skills. · Readiness for co-teaching and teamwork. · A development-oriented and professional approach to work. · Good oral and written skills in Finnish. Salary and terms of employment Salary is determined according to OVTES. The starting salary for a qualified person (1.6.2026) is €3,470.60. The position is subject to a 6-month probationary period. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Act 504/2002 before the selection is confirmed.
