Job Description
Do you want a job where you can do genuine good and meaningfully influence children's lives? Do you value a work community where successes are celebrated together? With us, you can work in a humanly sustainable way and grow as a professional by utilizing your own strengths. Welcome to our special group! Hoivatie is looking for an instructor in a permanent employment relationship for the Varpula unit in Oulu, which offers demanding foster care and special care for challengingly symptomatic children aged 7-14. At Varpula, we believe in the power of ordinary things. Our work is responsible and occasionally challenging, but its reward comes from the small successes of everyday life. "Our values include that people have time to do their own work, then it is of high quality." We focus on a meaningful everyday life, employee well-being, participatory management, and training opportunities. We want you to enjoy your work and grow as a professional. What does the instructor's work involve? As an instructor, your most important task is to create a rehabilitative and safe everyday life for the children. You are present for them, meet them with respect, and support their development in both small and large moments. At Hoivatie, we work with great pride and persistence, with quality and transparency. The instructor's work is versatile, and your workday includes both everyday support and educational guidance: - You plan a weekly program together with the child, which brings predictability to everyday life. - You participate in ordinary everyday chores with the children – playing board games, cooking together, going to hobbies and trips. On weekends, the program may include skiing or bowling. - You support children in emotional and interaction skills and practice everyday skills related to becoming independent with them. - You work closely with the children's loved ones and various stakeholders. Together with a multidisciplinary network, you plan how the child's individual support needs are taken into account as part of everyday life. - You use various methods in your work, such as substance abuse assessment or the ART method, and receive regular training to develop your expertise. - You record and report and participate in meetings. What do we hope for from you? Instructor work is rewarding, but it also requires the courage to face challenging situations. Therefore, strong interaction and cooperation skills as well as a positive and independent attitude are important. We also value a warm, respectful, and committed approach and your desire to develop as a professional. You have a basic or UAS degree in the social or health field (for example, a social worker or practical nurse) and a readiness for three-shift work. The work is valid until further notice and the employment relationship begins according to the agreement. I want to join the special group! How do I proceed? Great, we want to hear more about you. Further information about the position is provided by service manager Tiina Säkkinen. You can reach her by phone at 044 7373 261 or by email at tiina.sakkinen@hoivatie.fi. Send your application through our recruitment system by August 2, 2026. We review applications during the application period, so act quickly!
