Ward Physician

The position is in the Pirkkala hospital ward, which has 32 patient beds. The ward is staffed by two doctors. Patients come to care mainly through emergency and urgent care visits and continue to specialized care units for further treatment. The ward treats adult patients who are usually admitted for postoperative rehabilitation, acute infections, deterioration of an underlying condition or palliative care. Average length of stay is about 10 days. Pirkkala also houses outpatient services, radiology and laboratory services in the same facilities. The doctor’s role in the ward is diverse and includes clinical examination and diagnosis of diseases, planning and implementing comprehensive patient care, assessing functional status and overall condition and possible care directives, minor procedures as skills allow, ensuring safe discharge and planning follow-up care.
