About the role

We welcome you to a work community where we leverage everyone's strengths and focus on collaboration. Westend Day Care has 7 children's groups in two buildings on the same plot. We have four groups for children aged 1-3 and three for children aged 3/4-5. The day care is close to nature, a stone's throw from the forest and sea, yet has good public transport connections, and both Mattby and Hagalund are easily accessible. We offer children a safe, calm, and meaningful everyday life. We treat children, parents, and colleagues warmly and respectfully. As a substitute, you are an important key person who replaces staff during absences and ensures that operations run smoothly every day. As a substitute, you will get to know all the children in the day care. You will work full-time within the City of Espoo's Swedish early childhood education, but without being attached to a specific children's group. You work in the group where the need exists, and occasionally for single days at other Swedish-speaking day cares in the City of Espoo. Sometimes the work involves moving between groups during the day. This work is suitable for you who are flexible, solution-oriented, and enjoy getting to know new children and colleagues. Your duties: - You act as a childcare worker, follow the group's planning, and take responsibility for the day's tasks. - Be a secure and present adult in the children's everyday lives. - Follow the children's group routines and pedagogical guidelines. - Contribute to a positive and pedagogical environment. - Collaborate with the team and adapt to different working methods. When you start with us, you will receive a mentor who introduces you to your tasks to ensure a good start. We have a structured and supportive work environment, and childcare workers also have planning time outside the children's group. We have two day care assistants who help in various everyday situations, such as hanging up wet clothes and setting the tables for meals, so you can focus on the children's group. Workplace and address: Westend Day Care, Hirbölevägen 1A and 1B, 02160 Esbo Working hours: 38 hours 15 minutes per week Collective agreement: AKTA General municipal service and employment collective agreement The job is permanent. Work begins by agreement in September 2026. Qualification requirements: Qualification in accordance with the Act on Early Childhood Education and Care (540/2018) A suitable basic degree in pedagogical activity and guidance, a basic degree in the social and health care sector, or another equivalent degree for the task. E.g., childcare worker, day care worker, and nursing assistant (competence area for pedagogical activity and care of children and young people). The selected person must present a criminal record extract according to Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (770/1993). The Communicable Diseases Act requires the investigation of the risk of tuberculosis infection for employees in the social and health care sector and for those working with preschool-aged children. We assume excellent oral and written skills in Swedish. We value proactive educators who have an understanding of children's needs and can create security even during short encounters. Pioneers of Espoo - courage to renew, ability to develop Espoo is a city of pioneers. Our employer promise - courage to renew, ability to develop - is evident in our daily lives as smooth work, long-term competence development, and smart management. Together we build a city where the significance of work is clear and expertise is appreciated.
