Job Description

We are seeking a school assistant (32 hours/week) for Järnefelt Comprehensive School from August 10, 2026, to June 4, 2027. The school assistant's work focuses on grades 1-9. You will collaborate daily with class teachers, special education teachers, and other staff. Your tasks include: Guiding and supporting students during lessons; Assisting students during transitions, free time, and breaks. Järnefelt Comprehensive School has approximately 500 students in Lohja's Virkkala area. The school staff includes about 50 educators. The school offers preschool education and grades 1-9. Our afternoon activities include one group with a total of 15 students. The school's development focus is on encouraging reading and developing the activity culture. You will receive orientation for your duties. School assistants meet regularly and work closely with other staff. Preferred qualities include: Respectful interaction with students in all situations; Ability to guide and support students in core subjects; Willingness to collaborate with teachers; Ability to create a structured, supportive learning environment; Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and daily school situations. In addition, experience-based pay of up to 8% may be paid if applicable. The position is subject to a trial period of half the employment duration. The employer may require a health certificate from Keski-Uudenmaan Työterveys Oy, Lohja branch, within one month of starting employment, and a criminal background check as per law (504/2002).
