About the role

Stålarminkatu Day Care Centre is seeking a Special Education Teacher in Early Childhood Education for the period 24.8.–31.12.2026. As a special education teacher at the day care centre, your work will be based on positive pedagogy, recognizing children's strengths, and addressing needs related to children's learning, development, and well-being. By encouraging children and staff, you will support experiences of success. Alongside other staff, you are responsible for ensuring that every child receives support within their own group through various flexible arrangements in accordance with inclusive principles. As the special education teacher, you will participate in planning, evaluating, and developing the need for support, support measures, and their implementation. Your presence in the children's groups will be prioritized for pre-primary education and groups requiring intensified and special support (observation, child-specific teaching, group-based teaching, co-teaching, and collaborative teaching). In your work, you will utilize your expertise in consulting guardians and staff and serve as support for pedagogical leadership in the day care centre. You will collaborate with various parties and possess the desire and ability to work with others to achieve a common goal. Stålarminkatu Day Care Centre has eight children's groups, two of which are pre-primary education groups operating at Martin School. Our staff consists of motivated, enthusiastic, and skilled early childhood education professionals. There is a good community spirit and working atmosphere in our work community. Children's participation, supported play, and active learning are central to our methods. We have good transport connections and parking is available. Eligibility requirements are determined according to Section 30 of the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018); Eligibility requirements for special education teacher positions in early childhood education are: 1) eligibility for the position of early childhood education teacher, in addition to which studies providing professional qualifications for special education tasks, as decreed by government decree, have been completed; or 2) a Master of Education with a major in special pedagogy (early childhood special education teacher training). The selected candidate must provide the employer with a criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (Act on the verification of the criminal background of persons working with children 504/2002).
