Your role You will work in the gerontological social work unit as part of the client's overall social welfare service process. You will receive and process notifications and inquiries regarding people over 65 in accordance with the Social Welfare Act, guide clients toward services and supports, and perform service need assessments when necessary. Based on the assessment, you will provide planned, client-oriented social guidance for some clients. Your work is diverse and situations vary: you will meet clients who may have declining functional capacity, financial challenges, mental health or substance abuse issues, loneliness, or experiences of maltreatment. You will work closely with clients' networks and various collaborating parties. We have started reorganizing the work within the unit and this process is still ongoing, so the role may include both the receipt and processing of notifications as well as planned social guidance. We are a unit covering the entire VARHA region and currently have 8 different locations. You may express a preference for the location of your workstation. What we offer you We offer you the opportunity to do meaningful work with the elderly and participate in developing the operations of the gerontological social work unit. You will receive comprehensive orientation for the role as well as support from colleagues and the leading social worker. Work is performed on weekdays during office hours, and you will have flexible working hours and regular supervision. We also maintain a flexible approach to remote work when the work situation permits. What we expect from you We expect a genuine interest in working with elderly clients and the ability to meet them in a friendly and respectful manner. In your work, you will need stress tolerance, the ability to operate within statutory time limits, and an independent and self-directed approach to work. Success in the position requires good teamwork skills. We value experience in social guidance, such as processing concern notifications, assessing service needs, making service decisions, and planned social guidance, as well as experience working with the elderly. Additionally, knowledge of the elderly services of the Southwest Finland wellbeing services county, proficiency in the SosiaaliLifecare system, and Swedish language skills are considered an advantage. Access to a private car and a driver's license facilitate the smooth performance of the work. The eligibility requirement is qualification in accordance with Section 8 of the Act on Social Care Professionals. Language requirements include good oral and written Finnish skills and satisfactory oral and written Swedish skills. Apply for the position and join us in doing impactful work to promote the well-being of the elderly!
