Physician for Developmental Disabilities Clinic

The City of Helsinki invites physicians to participate in the medical staffing framework agreement for the Developmental Disabilities Clinic. The contract period is 1.10.2026–30.9.2030. The work at the Developmental Disabilities Clinic is varied and meaningful, and you will work as part of an interdisciplinary team including nurses, therapists and psychologists. The clinic has an internal medical consultation and referral practice with HUS specialty care. The workload will vary according to the clinic’s needs, typically 1–5 working days per week (6–8 h per day). Placement is determined in each order; clients visit mainly the Developmental Disabilities Clinic facilities for medical appointments, multidisciplinary appointments, or in units providing multi-professional support for disability services. The patient information system used is Apotti. Duties include medical treatment, examination, and assessment and monitoring of care needs; participating in multidisciplinary assessment, rehabilitation and care planning; medication management for behavioral disorders and epilepsy; preparing rehabilitation plans and BC statements for Kela; writing referrals and statements (continuity of care in primary or specialty care, disability services needs assessment); medical consultation and assessment of support needs; renewing prescriptions and monitoring laboratory results and medications; where necessary providing opinions on legal restrictions related to self-determination. Typical work week: Tuesdays and Thursdays include several rehabilitation negotiations; other days consist of appointments and calls. Statements are usually written during appointments or calls. On Wednesdays doctors have a common consultation time. We are looking for two kinds of professionals: General Practitioner and Specialist Physician. General Practitioner: licensed physician in Finland; at least two (2) years of work experience after graduation; ability to work with patients with intellectual disabilities based on work experience. Specialist Physician: training in pediatrics, adolescent or adult psychiatry or pediatric neurology; work experience with developmental disability clinic patient groups or the ability to work with people with developmental disabilities based on previous career; or a special qualification in developmental disability care. All doctors must be licensed professionals with no restrictions, a criminal record extract for working with children and disabled persons, vaccination protection according to the communicable diseases act §48, and excellent spoken and written Finnish.
