About the role

Fingrid is in an important role in achieving Finland's climate goals. Fingrid plans to invest about five billion euros in the grid over the next ten years so that renewable energy can continue to reach consumers. Do you want to be part of modernizing Finland's electricity system? We are looking for you for our team in Helsinki: ELECTRICITY MARKET ANALYST How does working with electricity market modeling and the development of Finland's future electricity system sound? As an electricity market analyst, you produce information to support decision-making and influence the long-term development of electricity markets and the transmission grid. We are now looking for an expert for a permanent position in the market modeling team of strategic grid planning. Your responsibilities include analyzing and modeling electricity markets, monitoring the operating environment, and developing analysis methods. A special area of focus is identifying consumption and production development prospects for grid development needs. In addition, you will participate in various R&D projects and European cooperation between transmission system operators. You will work together with the strategic grid planning team and internal and external stakeholders. Fingrid's Strategic Grid Planning unit is responsible for the long-term planning of the grid for the needs of a carbon-neutral Finland. We are responsible for examining future options for the electricity system, developing electricity transmission capacity, and international planning cooperation with other transmission system operators. We work with a hybrid model and hope to see you at our office at least 2–3 days a week. You will succeed in the position if you have theoretical and practical knowledge of the basics of electricity markets and electricity system operation, as well as an analytical and development-oriented approach. You are interested in understanding the business models of companies operating in the electricity market and have the passion to develop electricity market modeling tools. A suitable university degree (e.g., Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, Master of Science in Technology, or other suitable degree) provides a good foundation for success in the position. Experience in handling large masses of data, using data analytics tools, and programming skills are considered an advantage. Modeling expertise with the BID3 tool is also an advantage. Good Finnish and English language skills and strong interaction skills are an advantage in the position, as market modeling is done in close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.
