Maintenance Trainee

The Finnish Heritage Agency's Suomenlinna Maintenance Department is responsible for the Suomenlinna World Heritage site and the Suomenlinna area, including its care, maintenance, and development. As a trainee in the Landscape Maintenance team of the Suomenlinna Maintenance Department, you will contribute to the maintenance of Suomenlinna's unique cultural environment. We offer you versatile outdoor work in an interesting historical environment and a pleasant work community. The trainee's duties include versatile maintenance work for various types of landscape areas (e.g., parks, meadows, roads, and fortification structures), including mowing, raking leaves, maintaining walkways and pavements, caring for furniture and equipment, controlling invasive species, and small-scale repair and planting work. Additionally, the role includes keeping outdoor areas clean, snow removal, ice control, and other assisting maintenance service tasks. We provide the trainee with comprehensive orientation and guidance throughout the employment period. This position is part of the government's goal to hire 500 young people into new fixed-term employment relationships during 2026. The positions are intended for persons aged 18–25 seeking their first job from the state. The selected person must not have other public funding during the internship period. The selected person can be a student or, for example, a recent graduate. The place of work is Suomenlinna in Helsinki. There are no statutory eligibility requirements for the position. The position is subject to a one (1) month probationary period.
