We are seeking a ward physician for Laakso Hospital for a permanent position starting October 1, 2026. As a ward physician, you will act as the ward's senior physician in both clinical work and in guiding physicians in the specialization phase. You will work in the ward's multidisciplinary team. You will participate in the development work of the ward and the hospital. The ward physician is not obliged to be on call at the hospital, but there is an opportunity to do so. On-call time is weekdays from 15-09 and weekends/holidays from 09-09, the weekday following the on-call shift is free. We have a high level of expertise at Laakso Hospital. We have wards profiled for acute geriatric care, internal medicine, trauma rehabilitation, care of demanding wounds, and rehabilitation of ABI patients - a total of 11 wards and 271 hospital beds. Our patients come for follow-up care and rehabilitation from the emergency department and specialist care wards. Several specialties are represented at Laakso Hospital; currently, we have internal medicine physicians, a pulmonologist, geriatricians, general practitioners, a nephrologist, a physiatrist, and a rheumatologist. There are 12 specialist physician positions at Laakso Hospital. We hope for the start date of the official relationship to be October 1, 2026. We cooperate strongly with the specialist medical care and elderly services in our area. Consultants from various specialties from HUS regularly visit Laakso Hospital for consultation. We are also a significant training site for physicians and specialists. The quality of our patients' care is improved by both the specialist physician expertise and consultation purchased from HUS and our functional cooperation with various parties. Laakso Hospital is part of the Helsinki Hospital, which also includes Malmi Hospital, Suursuo Hospital, the geriatric outpatient clinic, the home hospital and home care physicians, and rehabilitation services. Laakso Joint Hospital is a new, advanced hospital being prepared for the joint use of HUS and the Helsinki Hospital. Construction of the new hospital building is underway, and the move will take place in phases starting in 2028. Eligibility requirements: Physician licensed in Finland and the right of a specialist physician in a suitable specialty. We are primarily seeking a geriatric specialist with the right to train. Language requirements are good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory oral skills in Swedish. The person selected for the position must present an occupational health assessment of their ability to perform the duties belonging to the position. The position requires vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis investigation according to Section 55. In addition, we require experience working on a ward in a city hospital. Knowledge of the Apotti system is considered an advantage.
