Early Childhood Social Worker
Permanent early childhood roles in Kuopio supporting children’s growth and coordinating services for families.
The City of Kuopio’s early childhood education services have several permanent Early Childhood Education Social Services Professional positions available. Work starts on 4 January 2027 or by agreement, but no later than the start of the new operating year on 2 August 2027. Positions are available in the following units: Niirala, Toukola, Puijonlaakso, Neulanen, Tukkipoika, Tuohikontti, Saarikello, Vuorilinna, Maunolanmäki, Pölläkänlahti, Mustinlampi (shift work), Kurkimäki and Von Wright. The main duties of an Early Childhood Education Social Services Professional relate to children’s overall wellbeing and education. Together with the educator team, the professional is responsible for the care and education of the children in the group and participates in planning, carrying out, evaluating and developing group activities and teaching. The professional takes part in implementing the early childhood education plan, which may also involve documenting plans. The professional is responsible for coordinating services for children and families, implementing cooperation structures between early childhood education and social and healthcare services, guiding families to services, and strengthening cooperation with families around child-rearing and a sense of community (social pedagogy). Duties include supporting children’s overall growth and development and strengthening families’ participation and wellbeing. They also include supervising students in the field. The role may include working as an expert in various multi-agency working groups. You are eligible for a permanent position if you have a Bachelor of Social Services degree (UAS) that includes at least 60 ECTS credits of studies focused on early childhood education and social pedagogy.
