Special Education Teacher

We are looking for a special education teacher for the Lauttasaari-Lunni early childhood education unit. We have a great, happy and active group. We enthusiastically develop Helsinki's early childhood education in accordance with the Helsinki early childhood education plan. In our unit, play and peer skills as well as a sensitive encounter with the child in everyday life are emphasized and we operate in a community-guided manner. Together with other staff, you will be responsible for planning operations, observing the need for child support, guiding and supporting the child in early childhood education and pre-primary education, as well as the construction of a special educationally suitable operational culture and learning environment for the child and supporting the child's individual learning. Eligibility requirements: We require that you have the eligibility in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or eligibility for the position of early childhood education teacher in accordance with the transitional provision (75 §), in addition of which you have completed studies that provide professional readiness for special education tasks, which are decreed by government decree; or you have a Master of Education degree with a major in special pedagogy (early childhood special education teacher training). The eligibility requirement is also met by a recognition decision made by the National Agency for Education on the basis of foreign education for the position applied for. In addition, we require good oral and written skills in Finnish. The selected person must present a valid criminal record extract for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for the respiratory organs of those working with children under school age is checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). When starting a permanent employment relationship as an early childhood special education teacher in the City of Helsinki in 2026, we offer you an incentive bonus of 2000 euros.
