Aalto University is where science and art meet technology and business... We are now looking for a Doctoral Researcher in Transport Studies. The doctoral researcher will be embedded in the Spatial Planning and Transportation (SPT) research group and contribute to the CO-SPACES research project funded by the Research Council of Finland. The aim of CO-SPACES is to assess the benefits and burdens created by current and possible future urban street space distribution in Finnish cities... The PhD project should focus on the last part, especially around the questions of governance... Applicants should hold a master’s degree in transport studies, urban planning, policy studies, sociology, or any governance related field relevant for the PhD. Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. Knowledge of Finnish is not required... The position is fully funded for four years, with a preferred starting date in autumn 2026 (negotiable). The starting salary for doctoral students at the School of Engineering is currently 3143€ per month (gross)... All doctoral students at Aalto University are first granted a two-year contract, evaluated by a compulsory midterm review during the second year, with the possibility of extension for the remaining period (a further two years) if satisfactory progress has been made.
