About the role

The Sámi Parliament announces a vacancy for a Deputy Special Expert for Sámi Livelihoods and Land Use. The duties of the Special Expert for Sámi Livelihoods and Land Use are listed in Section 50 of the Sámi Parliament's Rules of Procedure. The duties of the Special Expert include, among other things, preparing matters related to Sámi livelihoods and their development, taking into account traditional Sámi knowledge; preparing matters concerning land use in the Sámi homeland or matters with impacts extending to it within their field of expertise; and serving as a rapporteur for the Livelihoods and Legal Board. **Employment Details** The deputy position begins as soon as possible according to the agreement. The deputy position lasts until October 2027. A six-month probationary period applies to the filling of the position. The position of Special Expert for Sámi Livelihoods and Land Use is located in the General Office of the Sámi Parliament. The place of business for the Sámi Parliament is the Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos in Inari. It is possible to work partially remotely. **Requirements for the Applicant** The statutory eligibility requirement is the education required for the office, and proficiency in the Sámi language is also required (Decree 1727/95). Successful performance of the duties requires knowledge of Sámi culture and traditional knowledge, good knowledge of Sámi livelihoods and the Sámi homeland, experience in administrative tasks, and good cooperation and negotiation skills. We expect fluent written expression, an independent approach to work, and good organizational and stress management skills. **Remuneration** Remuneration is determined according to the Sámi Parliament's remuneration system, difficulty level IV/II (basic salary 2,998.97 euros/month). In addition to the basic salary, a 24% Sámi homeland allowance is paid when working in the Sámi homeland, as well as experience bonuses determined by work experience. **Application** The application form, as well as an optional free-form cover letter, a possible CV, and other attachments, must be submitted to the Secretariat of the Sámi Parliament by July 31, 2026, via the electronic application form.
