About the role

The children and youth mental health and substance abuse services of the Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county provide primary healthcare-stepped mental health and substance abuse services for children, youth, and their families in the region. Additionally, we operate in several smaller units in the region. The physician's work can focus on children (under 13), youth (13-17), or both age groups. The physician's duties in the children and youth mental health and substance abuse services include diagnostics as well as medical treatment planning and monitoring for children and youth. In addition to outpatient work, key tasks include providing consultation support to the unit's multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with other professionals working with children and youth. Eligibility for the position requires the right to practice as a licensed physician in Finland. We also require good written and oral proficiency in Finnish. A specialist physician's degree in a relevant field, additional training in primary healthcare, special qualification in adolescent medicine, and work experience in psychiatry or children/youth mental health and substance abuse services, as well as preventive services (maternity clinic, school, and student healthcare), are considered an advantage. Experience working with children, youth, and families in primary healthcare and/or specialized medical care, sufficient general knowledge of the treatment of mental health and substance abuse disorders in children and youth, and experience working in a multidisciplinary team are beneficial. We value good interaction and cooperation skills, a desire to develop professionally, interest in participating in service development, and the ability to consider the daily environment of the child or youth and their family as part of the treatment. We offer you: - Goal-oriented and professionally interesting work - Skilled colleagues in a multidisciplinary and development-oriented work community - Support from the chief physician and medical team, as well as consultation opportunities with specialists - Orientation tailored to your needs - Guidance included in training for those specializing in general medicine and those completing YEK services. Supervision required for mental health work is implemented as group supervision. - An opportunity for professional development in children and youth mental health work between primary healthcare and specialized medical care - The possibility to combine the position with part-time work in other health center physician roles for children, youth, and families, such as school or student healthcare - Flexibility for different life situations. - Access to Pirha's personnel benefits, such as annual sports, culture, commuting, and wellbeing benefits via Epassi, employer lunch benefits, and activities of Tyhy and Virkisty Vapaalla ry. You can start in the position on January 4, 2027, or by agreement. The probationary period is six months. This is a full-time position with a weekly working time of 38 hours and 15 minutes.
