The City of Helsinki is seeking a Social Worker for Northern Youth Social Work to serve as a parental leave substitute from August 24, 2026, to February 8, 2027. The primary role involves meeting young adults aged 16-29 in need of help, assessing service needs, and conducting planned social work to ensure individual needs are met. The goal is to strengthen the young person's functional capacity and support independent living, addressing areas such as independence, crises, employment, education, health, social relationships, housing, and finances. Responsibilities also include processing supplementary and preventive income support and other individual care decision-making. The role also involves working with 16-17-year-olds requiring special support under the Social Welfare Act. The team consists of ten social workers, four social guides, and a leading social worker, maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere. Support includes weekly team meetings, external supervision, close supervisor support, and regular remote work opportunities. The city offers extensive training and development opportunities, as well as access to affordable rental housing at Aurora Linnan. Requirements
- Professional qualification as a social worker according to Act 817/2015
- Professional legalization from the Licensing and Supervision Authority (formerly Valvira)
- Good oral and written proficiency in Finnish
- Satisfactory oral proficiency in Swedish
- Criminal record extract (Act 504/2002)
