Project Description: The general objective of the Sinergia+ project is to generate management processes that strengthen CONANP and allow it to become an institution that plans based on results, with strong finances and effective governance mechanisms and strategic alliances, contributing to increasing the connectivity between representative ecosystems to safeguard their biodiversity and ecological balance. The Sinergia+ project has four strategic results: 1) Institutional strengthening and management for effective conservation in PANs; 2) Governance and strengthening of collaboration networks; 3) Gender approach and strengthening of citizen participation; 4) Increase in conservation area with an ecological connectivity approach; 5) Conservation and recovery of species at risk; 6) Strategic Projects. Within the framework of the Sinergia+ Project, the person to be hired will carry out the following activities to coordinate biological monitoring evaluations and applied science to marine mammals, with the purpose of guaranteeing an adequate balance in the conservation of natural resources of the protected natural areas. This position contributes to the achievement of the goals of Result 5 "Conservation and recovery of species at risk". Scope of Work: 1. Coordination of the design, implementation and applied scientific evaluation in matters of sustainable management of the resources represented by marine mammals, in order to guarantee the publication and dissemination of the results at a technical and scientific level in the country. 2. Coordinate with different institutions, scientific organizations, national and international, and civil society to ensure that the work with marine mammals meets social, legal needs and particularly international agreements, in particular the International Whaling Commission (IWC), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora CITES, CBD, etc. 3. Support the preparation of a study on the integrated management of marine mammal populations that allow harmonizing institutional arrangements that guarantee an adequate balance between the conservation of natural resources represented by marine mammals and other productive activities in the country. 4. Support the carrying out of marine ecosystem conservation studies (habitat and species), to define priorities in biodiversity preservation in Mexico, considering social, economic and cultural aspects. 5. Support CONANP in the design of materials and participation in national and international forums, research projects and international agreements related to the conservation of marine mammals. 6. Contribute to the linking with academic institutions to develop scientific research and strengthen their collaboration and participation for the development of projects linked to the conservation of marine mammals. 7. Coordinate the integration of technical and scientific recommendations to support institutional decision-making of CONANP in matters of conservation, sustainable management and definition of priorities related to marine mammals and their habitats in protected natural areas. Institutional Agreement: The hired person will work under the direct technical supervision of the Directorate of Concertation and Coordination, as well as the Administrative Coordination of the Project. Minimum Academic Requirements: - First Level University Studies (Bachelor's degree) in: Environmental Sciences, Biology, Marine Biology, Coastal Oceanography or related, is a requirement. - Master's or Doctoral studies in the aforementioned topics will be given due consideration, but are not a requirement. Minimum Years of Experience Required: - For candidates with first level university studies (Bachelor's degree), 4 years of verifiable experience in environmental regulations, Federal Public Administration, international agreements, focused on marine and coastal ecosystems; execution of scientific research projects or programs linked to the conservation of marine mammals are required. - For candidates with Master's or Doctoral studies, 2 years in the aforementioned topics are required. Required Skills: - Experience in writing technical reports. - Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams. Desired Skills: - Knowledge / Experience in: integrated management of marine mammal populations - Knowledge / Experience in: marine ecosystem conservation studies (habitat and species) - Knowledge / Experience in: research programs for the conservation of marine mammals. - Knowledge / Experience in: GPS Management - Measurement of population data of marine mammals and their habitats. - Knowledge / Experience in: international agreements, such as the International Whaling Commission (IWC), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora CITES and CBD. As this is a national recruitment, the applicant must be a Mexican citizen in full exercise of their rights, or a foreigner whose migratory status allows the function to be developed.
