We are now looking for a self-directed and skilled Forestry Worker for the City of Joensuu’s forest management unit, in a permanent employment relationship. Duties include planting, early tending of young stands, tending young forests, improving young forests, pre-commercial thinning and thinning. We require applicants to have: - At least a vocational qualification in forestry - Good spoken Finnish - At least one year of experience in comparable forest management work - A Category B driving licence - Good physical fitness - Good cooperation and customer service skills - A responsible and safe approach to work The following are considered an advantage: - Experience felling challenging trees in demanding working environments - Experience managing urban forests - Other forestry expertise and training that supports the role, for example arborist training The position-specific salary is €2,442.46 per month. In addition, a professional experience supplement of 4% or 8% of the position-specific salary is paid if the work-experience requirements for the supplement are met. A personal performance-based supplement of 1–30% may also be possible after 12 months of employment. Did you know that annual leave in the municipal sector is long and that leave days are deducted at a rate of only five days per week? The length of annual leave varies according to work history, from 23 to 38 days. Study and employment certificates must be presented at a possible job interview. Interviews are provisionally scheduled for week 44. The position will be filled on 15 November 2026 or as agreed. Our workplaces are smoke-free. We believe it is fair for a new Forestry Worker’s career with us to begin with a six-month probationary period. The aim is, of course, for both sides to make the best possible impression during that time and then continue a rewarding working relationship.
