About the role

We are looking for a part-time (40%) social worker for a fixed-term substitute position in the Western Youth Social Work team for the period 1.9.26-31.5.2027. Part-time work is implemented as two days a week at our office at Hopeatie 6. We hope for regular consecutive days as primary working days, either Mondays and Tuesdays or Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A social worker's work with us includes client meetings, recordings, making client service need assessments and client plans, network work with the client's relatives and services, as well as decision-making on supplementary and preventive income support. Our clients often have challenges with mental health, substances, money matters, social relationships, housing, everyday life or getting services. Social work with young adults with us is active change work, where the situation is first assessed, motivating change work is done and an attempt is made to change the client's situation by means of social work change methods. In our team work six social workers, six social guides and one leading social worker, of whom one social worker and one social guide also serve in Swedish. We serve 16-29 year old youth and young adults from western Helsinki, as well as all Swedish-speaking 16-29 year old clients from Helsinki. Our team is diverse and we value people's differences. Eligibility requirement: Eligibility is the qualification of a social worker in accordance with Section 7 of the Act on Social Care Professionals 817/2015 and professional authorization from the License and Supervision Authority (formerly Valvira). Language skill requirement is good oral and written skill in Finnish and satisfactory oral skill in Swedish. The position requires vaccination protection in accordance with Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis certificate in accordance with Section 55. In the absence of applicants meeting the eligibility requirements, the position may be filled temporarily for a maximum of one year by: • a person studying for the profession of social worker who has successfully completed the basic and advanced studies in social work and practical training or • a person who has completed such a suitable university degree in the field of social sciences or a university of applied sciences degree in the field of social and health care, which included or in addition to which basic and advanced studies in social work and practical training have been successfully completed or • a person who, in addition to a suitable university degree in the field of social sciences or a university of applied sciences degree in the field of social and health care and basic and advanced studies in social work, has sufficient practical experience and professional skill. The position requires the presentation of a criminal record extract (Act on the investigation of the criminal background of persons working with children 504/2002). In addition, we require: - excellent interaction skills, - good skills in managing one's own work, - good ability to absorb new information, - flexibility to changes occurring in work, - commitment to fixed-term and part-time work. We consider as an advantage: - previous work and/or internship experience in adult social work, - knowledge of using Apotti, - previous experience in official work, - good or excellent Swedish language skills.
