About the role

Geologian tutkimuskeskus is looking for an experienced lawyer for the HR, IT and legal affairs responsibility area in the Legal Services team. Your place of work is Espoo, Kokkola, Kuopio, Outokumpu or Rovaniemi, and you have the possibility of flexible remote work in Finland. There are currently four lawyers and one planner in the team, based in Otaniemi, Espoo. The Legal Services team provides the legal services required by GTK's management and units professionally and flexibly. In your duties, you will act as a contract lawyer and as legal support for GTK's domestic and international project activities. You will be responsible for supporting procurement in contract and other legal matters. Copyright and industrial property law issues and contract matters related to research data are also part of your work. You are responsible for providing legally valid solution proposals that take into account GTK's strategic goals and overall interest. In addition, you will participate in the development of legal services and be responsible for development measures in your own area of responsibility. Together with other lawyers, you will organize internal training in legal matters. In this position, you report to the head of legal affairs. The emphasis and responsibility of your tasks can be adjusted according to your skills and experience. For example, depending on your expertise and experience, your duties may also include the tasks of a data protection officer. Education, experience and skills expected from the applicant: - Master of Laws degree (LL.M or equivalent previous degree) - Several years of work experience in diverse and demanding lawyer positions - Strong expertise in drafting contracts and contract law - Strong expertise in public procurement and procurement law - Experience in an international operating environment and the ability to act smoothly and convincingly in multilingual and multicultural stakeholder cooperation - Fluent written and spoken Finnish and English language skills and at least satisfactory Swedish language skills Education, experience and skills that would be an advantage for the applicant: - Knowledge of various research funding mechanisms and the related contract structures - Experience and expertise in intellectual property law matters - Knowledge of developing data and AI regulation and readiness to legally support the introduction of AI in our organization - Practical knowledge of data protection law and possible certifications - Experience in training in legal matters Desired personal characteristics: You have an enthusiastic, solution-oriented and proactive approach to work and development.
