Lead Critical Laboratory Operations That Keep Production Moving! We are seeking a Manager – Laboratories to lead our laboratory operations in Tornio and play a pivotal role in ensuring the success, quality, and sustainability of our stainless steel and ferrochrome operations. In this leadership role, you will manage a team of approximately 45 laboratory professionals and ensure the delivery of reliable, timely, and high-quality analytical services that are essential for production, product quality, environmental compliance, and business performance. As Manager – Laboratories, you will be responsible for: Leadership & People – Lead and develop Tornio Operations laboratory services to provide accurate and timely analytical results for cost-efficient and sustainable operations. Operations & Quality – Ensure laboratory processes, systems, and personnel meet relevant certifications and accreditation requirements. Be responsible for the lifecycle management of analytical, instrumentation, and testing equipment. Safety, Sustainability & Compliance – Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and a strong safety culture across all laboratory functions. Business & Performance – Support strategic business objectives through reliable analytics, expert insights, and strong stakeholder collaboration. What Makes This Role Important? The laboratory is a critical enabler of production. Without analytical results, production operations in Tornio cannot continue. Accurate and reliable laboratory services are essential for: Production continuity; Product quality assurance; Environmental compliance; Process optimization; Sustainable and cost-efficient operations. Your leadership will directly impact operational performance, product quality, safety, and business results. What We Are Looking For • M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Technology, or a related field • Strong leadership and collaboration skills. Ability to inspire, develop, and engage teams. • Strong customer and stakeholder focus. • Proven experience of successful laboratory work • Good communication in both Finnish and English.
