Two postdoctoral researchers are sought for fixed-term positions as part of the Good News from Academia research project funded by the Academy of Finland. The project investigates the everyday, meaningful academic work and uses collaborative autoethnography with a focus on the social sciences and humanities PhD holders. The position involves designing the research setup, data collection and analysis, writing for the research group, and possible teaching tasks up to 10% of annual hours. Requirements include holding a Doctorate (or completing by the end of the application period) in a field related to social sciences, political science, administration sciences, anthropology, cultural studies, education or similar; ability to work independently and in collaboration; familiarity with academic work and science policy is a plus; international collaboration experience is an asset. The appointment is located within the Good News from Academia research group and may include teaching duties related to the candidate’s research interests. The project aims to broaden the study of academic work beyond extremes of high-end research or hardship. The salary starts around 4000–4200 € gross per month, with potential for performance-based pay, and includes standard university benefits. The positions begin on 1 November 2026 or as agreed, with end dates at 31 August 2028 and 31 August 2027 respectively, and a probation period under the Finnish Employment Contracts Act.
