The residential unit is a 30-resident home. In Aallotare A-building, 18 people live in their own apartments; they spend a lot of time in common areas and eat in the house restaurant. They move independently but need some staff help and persistent guidance in their daily lives. In Group Home Merivuokko B-building, 12 residents need more physical help and 24-hour support from staff. All residents have a mental health and/or substance abuse background and/or various neurological challenges. Many activities are organized for residents in their own unit, jointly in the whole house, and also outside the unit. Residents are supported in active agency and living a life of their own despite limitations. A care assistant is needed for assisting tasks to support the nursing staff. The work includes, among other things, housekeeping tasks such as laundry and dish care and assisting in meals, unloading goods deliveries to the warehouse and replenishing supplies in the rooms. The care assistant can also be involved in trips and other daily life and celebrations of the unit as an aid to other staff. We have a pleasant multidisciplinary team that welcomes you! The language skill requirement is good oral and satisfactory written skill in Finnish. The position requires vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis certificate according to Section 55. The position requires the presentation of a criminal record extract for those working with elderly people (Act on the Supervision of Social and Health Care 741/2023, Section 28). Additionally, we require: You are an unemployed job seeker from Helsinki and meet one of the following conditions: - you are 15-24 years old - you have reached 50 years of age - you have not completed a matriculation examination, a qualification referred to in the Act on Vocational Education or an equivalent foreign secondary education qualification - you are entitled to an integration plan referred to in the Act on the Promotion of Integration - you have not been in gainful employment during the previous six months - as an unemployed job seeker, your chances of getting a suitable job have significantly decreased due to injury or illness. At least three years must have passed since the end of the previous wage-subsidized employment with the City of Helsinki before you can be employed again with a wage subsidy for the city.
