We are offering four doctoral researcher positions in robotics for the Mobile Robotics and Intelligent Robotics groups at Aalto University’s School of Electrical Engineering. The work focuses on perception, prediction, communication, and decision-making for autonomous systems operating in human–robot shared environments. The research environment emphasizes safety, social awareness, and semantic/dynamic environment understanding, with collaboration with industrial partners and access to state-of-the-art robot platforms and labs. The four projects include: Mobile Robotics – Safe Autonomy in Shared Industrial Environments; Semantic Communication for Mission-Critical Robotics; Distributed Situational Awareness and Semantic Scene Understanding; and Socially Aware Perception and Behavior Prediction. Applicants should have an MSc (or equivalent) in Robotics, Communications/EE, Computer Science, Control, ML/AI, Mechatronics, or Applied Mathematics; strong analytical and writing skills; solid programming and mathematical skills (Python/C++, ROS valued); fluent English. The positions are fully funded with salary determined by the Finnish universities salary system, starting at 3143 €/month, with a fixed term of four years under a 2+2 model (two years initially, two more after mid-term review).
