Would you like to build your career in Finland’s leading infrastructure company? Destia is growing and we had the privilege to hire a couple of new colleagues to our team during this spring. Since the growth continues, we are looking for another experienced and business-oriented Contract Manager to join our Legal & Contract Management Team. While being part of our amazing team, you will also work closely with some of our data center or other complex major projects and their project teams on site offices. In this role, you will be a key contributor to ensuring that our major projects are executed with commercial excellence, contractual clarity, and proactive risk management. You will be working closely with colleagues at Vaasa construction site, your Legal & Contract Management colleagues (in Oulu, Helsinki & Tampere) and with our clients. You will work with contracts based primarily on FIDIC and other international construction contract models, supporting Destia’s growing international footprint as part of the Colas and Bouygues Group. Your Role As a Contract Manager at Destia, you will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of complex construction projects, working side-by-side with our project organization. Your responsibilities include especially: 1. Contract & Commercial Management Manage contractual and commercial activities across all project phases, from contract award to final settlement and post-completion. Interpret main contracts and subcontract agreements and ensure compliance with all obligations and deliverables. Set the contract baseline and ensure project teams understand contractual requirements, scope boundaries, notice provisions, and risk areas. 2. Negotiations & Stakeholder Collaboration Support and lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and partners. Act as a central contractual point of contact between different teams within the project organization, ensuring aligned decision-making and contractual clarity. Participate in project meetings as the project’s contract specialist, advising on commercial and contractual matters. 3. Claims and Change Management & Risk Mitigation Manage and evaluate variations, claims, extensions of time, and their commercial impacts. Identify, assess, and manage contractual and commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. Promote early dispute avoidance and participate in claim negotiations and settlement processes. 4. Project Execution Support Work closely with project managers and other relevant project team members to ensure accurate reporting, invoicing, forecasting, and documentation. Monitor changes, claims, and contractual performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms. Prepare, issue and manage contractual notices, letters and formal communications. To thrive in this position, you should have: Required Skills & Experience Suitable technical or commercial higher education (e.g., Engineering or Business). Several years of experience in contract management, project management and/or tender calculation within construction, EPC, infrastructure, or industrial projects. Knowledge of FIDIC and/or comparable international contract models. Proven skills in managing claims, variations, negotiations, and contractual risk assessments. Fluent Finnish and English (spoken and written). Personal Attributes Business-oriented mindset and ability to see both commercial and contractual perspectives. Proactive and supportive management style. Willingness to support and mentor junior colleagues. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Structured, detail-oriented working style and strong documentation accuracy. Cooperative team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative. Considered as an Advantage FIDIC certificates or comparable knowledge. Experience on working in large, technically complex, multi-stakeholder project environments.
