Firefighter

Firefighting professional – welcome to our team at the Western Uusimaa Rescue Department. We are currently seeking firefighters for various stations within our operational area. The role includes participating in rescue operations, emergency medical services, and prevention work through outreach and advisory duties. We provide modern personal gear and rescue equipment, and we value personal development with opportunities to specialize, for example as a diver or boat operator. We invest in leadership by continuously training supervisors to give you the best possible support in your work. Our area enables working across a wide network of fire stations in Western Uusimaa. The workplace is at Western Uusimaa Wellbeing District / Western Uusimaa Fire Department, Palomiehentie 1, 02750 Espoo. Working hours follow a duty roster, 42 hours per week. The position is permanent. Qualifications required for full-time firefighting personnel, vaccination protection, security clearance, BC driving licence. A drug test will be conducted under our region’s drug program. A fire-safety fitness requirement applies: Firefit index at least 3.0 and VO2 max parameters at level 3 (3.0 L/min and 36.00 ml/kg/min). Firefit can be replaced by a University of Rescue institute test within a year. Probation includes meeting fitness standards. If not currently a firefighter, the Firefit test must be within a year. We value good communication and teamwork, broad competence across rescue services and other fields, experience as an basic-level emergency responder, and proficiency in both official languages.
