Come join our pleasant work community in Martinlaakso. We have strong and enthusiastic grade-level and subject groups as well as action teams where expertise is shared and operations are developed together. Martinlaakso School is a comprehensive school for grades 1–9 with approximately 1000 students. About 130 adults work in our school community. Our school is located in Martinlaakso with good transport connections. We operate in a modern school building with up-to-date teaching tools. The diverse immediate environment, visual arts facilities, and communal learning environments provide excellent opportunities for visual arts teaching and creative work. Our goal is to be a pedagogically unified basic school where learners of different ages meet naturally. Classroom teaching and subject teaching are located close to each other, and the school adults collaborate, which supports the construction of a coherent school path from the first grade to the end of basic education. S2 teaching for the lower grades is handled by a team of two teachers, one of whom is the position currently being recruited. In this role, you will collaborate with an experienced colleague. We develop our operational culture according to the ProKoulu model. This means shared goals and consistent methods in guiding student behavior through positive feedback. We require the applicant to commit to educational work in accordance with this model. We hope you have expertise in the following: - Differentiation and S2 pedagogy: functional language learning, early-stage literacy, and individual support. - Management of S2 learning paths and assessment: goals, monitoring, and documentation of progress. - Language-aware methods in different subjects and collaboration with classroom teachers and preparatory education. - Safe and clear group management: student-oriented, firm and calm approach, as well as support for emotional and interaction skills. - Readiness for flexible organization of teaching: simultaneous teaching, small groups, individual goals, and knowledge of support processes. Teaching will tentatively take place mainly in lower grade groups. Further information and recruitment process Based on the number of students whose native language is other than Finnish (S2) in our school, teaching staff who meet the requirements for the position may be paid a salary supplement of approx. 250€/month. Interviews may begin during the application period. Employment details Eligibility requirement: Eligibility in accordance with Decree 986/1998 on the eligibility requirements for teaching staff. Terms of employment are determined according to the Municipal Teaching Staff Collective Agreement (OVTES).
