About the role

The goal of elimination is to significantly reduce morbidity, deaths, and associated costs caused by hepatitis C infection, as well as new infections, particularly among substance users in risk groups. The objective of the hepatitis C elimination project in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County (LUVN) is to develop and enhance point-of-care testing for hepatitis C at the wellbeing services county level, enable rapid access to treatment, and strengthen health counseling for substance users. The project aims to integrate point-of-care testing and rapid access to treatment into LUVN's own permanent operations after the project ends. The project will be implemented as a wide-reaching mobile service in various cities and municipalities within LUVN. The project staff's base is located in Matinkylä, Espoo, but point-of-care testing and treatment coordination will be carried out systematically in various mental health and substance abuse service units, as well as in cooperation with, for example, housing service units. The project has vehicles for travel, for which a category B driver's license is required. The possibility of using one's own car is considered an advantage. As the project nurse, your duties include performing point-of-care tests related to the need for hepatitis C treatment (HCVNhO, HCVAb, HIV, HBsAg point-of-care tests and Fibroscan) and initial interviews, consulting with physicians, and planning and coordinating hepatitis C treatments (medical treatment) according to the physician's treatment plan. Additionally, the work includes vaccinations and other health counseling for substance users (guidance, exchange of clean needles, etc.). In addition to documenting patient work, your duties include recording data related to project monitoring and reporting, as well as training mental health and substance abuse service staff on processes related to hepatitis C treatment. As the project nurse, in addition to hepatitis C treatment, you will get to know the wellbeing services county's mental health and substance abuse services as well as health center services extensively. In the project, you will gain experience in project work and have the opportunity to develop new working and operating methods within LUVN, in purchased services, and between wellbeing services counties. Your team consists of a five-person project team and a project manager acting as the team leader. Additionally, we will utilize the input of a peer expert in the projects. We require personnel working in the project to have good oral and written skills in Finnish and good cooperation skills. Fluent oral and written skills in Swedish are valued. For the project employee, work experience in working with substance users is considered an advantage. We offer comprehensive orientation and training to support the work, as well as the support of the project team and project manager.
