About the role

Apply for a tourism trainee position at the Finnish Heritage Agency's World Heritage Services Unit in Suomenlinna. The Suomenlinna Maintenance Board, part of the Finnish Heritage Agency, maintains, restores, and presents Suomenlinna, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The World Heritage Services Unit of the Suomenlinna Maintenance Board serves visitors as well as a network of partners and stakeholders by presenting and developing Suomenlinna. The unit is responsible for improving visitor management, services, and the visitor experience of the World Heritage site through sustainable tourism. The interpretation of the World Heritage site includes the presentation of Suomenlinna, the operation of the visitor center, event coordination, and the sales service for event spaces. The World Heritage Services Unit is now looking for an enthusiastic and proactive trainee who is interested in sustainable tourism and the development of the site together with the operator network. During the traineeship, you will work with us to make Suomenlinna a great place to live, work, and visit. In your traineeship, you will participate diversely and broadly in various tasks of the World Heritage Services Unit, such as content production for our different channels, organizing events, and brainstorming and advancing site development measures. You will also be involved in creating the Viapori Kekri event, which is implemented together with the local community, site operators, and restaurant and catering students from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. This position is related to the government's goal to hire 500 young people into new fixed-term employment relationships during 2026. The positions are intended for people aged 18–25 seeking their first job with the state. The selected person must not have other public funding during the traineeship period. The selected person does not necessarily have to be a student; you can also be, for example, a recent graduate.
