Our services provide comprehensive advisory to private and public sector developers, construction companies, and property owners. The core is real estate and contract law advisory tied to strong commercial acumen. Our team consists of experts in real estate development, real estate transactions, real estate law, and procurement negotiations. We collaborate closely with other KPMG colleagues across Corporate Finance, public law, tax and corporate law. Our building & real estate services unit generated 15 million euros in revenue in the last completed financial year and we continue to grow despite the market. The Real Estate and Construction Lawyer role entails drafting and leading complex contract documentation for demanding construction and real estate projects as the most senior lawyer in negotiations; preparing varied legal expert opinions and DD reports in real estate transactions; ensuring our advisory is legally precise and covers all relevant legal areas (e.g., contract matters, property law including partition, joint ventures and easement agreements, real estate purchases, project & implementation agreements, land lease agreements, land-use agreements); involving cross-disciplinary experts; developing the unit’s service package and ensuring client engagements succeed; growing and leveraging your client network for KPMG’s legal services. You will report to the Head of Building & Real Estate Services. The role offers exposure to notable national projects and opportunities for professional growth toward more senior responsibilities, with flexible work arrangements and broad employee benefits. The position is permanent, starting by agreement. We operate in 19 locations in Finland; you will primarily work in the Helsinki, Turku, or Tampere area, with potential for other offices. Responsibilities
- Drafts and leads contract documentation for demanding construction and real estate projects, guiding younger experts
- Produces various legal expert reports and due diligence (DD) related to real estate transactions
- Ensures advisory is legally precise and covers relevant areas (e.g., contract matters, real estate law, real estate purchases, project and execution agreements, land lease agreements, land use agreements)
- Collaborates with experts from other disciplines on assignments
- Develops unit service offerings and ensures client engagements succeed
- Develops and leverages client networks for KPMG's legal services
Requirements
- A suitable law degree
- 7+ years of experience in real estate, construction and project-related law (in-house or at a law firm)
- General contract law knowledge
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Excellent Finnish and English language skills; Swedish is a plus
