English to Urdu Linguist

We are seeking an experienced Language Expert – Urdu (Pakistan) to join our team. The Language expert will oversee linguistic tasks, manage quality assurance, and provide mentorship to linguists while ensuring the delivery of high-quality language services. The applicant should be native Pakistani National who understands the Language in-depth, knows the cultural nuances of the language and have excellent command over English-US, both verbal and written. Responsibility: Here is a non-exhaustive list of main tasks for this role: Linguistic tasks: Perform LQA reviews, handle arbitrations and drive linguistic consensus for optimal results. Perform glossary and TM updates within Smartling environment. Handle Client review feedback exchange and implementation. Process linguistic feedback from QA testing and implement changes as needed. Provide linguistic and cultural consultation as requested by the client. Quality Management tasks: Liaise with Language Specialist and translation teams to share constructive feedback and drive overall language quality improvement. Liaise with client stakeholders to discuss linguistic matters and offer consultation. Maintain reference materials, training documentation and meeting notes. Answer linguistic queries. Monitor language quality performance via LQA report and address issues. Work on RCAs and QIPs as instructed. Proactively assess asset improvements. Prioritize QM tasks. Education, Skills and Experience: Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Language Arts, or related field. Experience: Minimum 5 years translation/localization; at least 2 years as Language Lead or Senior Linguist. Language skills: Native or near-native Urdu-Pakistan; excellent English. Technical: CAT tools, QA processes. Soft: attention to detail, leadership. Preferred: localization for global Music Service provider; knowledge of Pakistani culture; certification in translation tools. Must be flexible to work on any content types including sensitive content.
