The City of Kerava's education and instruction sector is seeking a fixed-term, part-time hourly teacher (native language, Finnish Romani language) starting 12.8.2026. What you will do We are looking for an enthusiastic, development-oriented, and collaborative professional in native language teaching. The hours are for grades 1-9. You will teach Finnish Romani as a native language in various schools in the City of Kerava for grades 1-9, and you may need to move from one school to another during the same day. Individual teaching groups consist of students from different grade levels with varying levels of knowledge and skills. There are 2 teaching hours per week for the 2026-2027 academic year. How to succeed in the role The position requires good group management skills and the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate teaching so that it effectively supports the goals of the provided instruction and education. Experience in similar roles, knowledge of functional working methods, and good ICT skills are considered an advantage. Applicants are expected to have the motivation and readiness to develop inclusion and the school's operational culture. Success in the position requires excellent oral and written Finnish language skills. Eligibility requirements are determined in accordance with the Decree on the Eligibility Requirements for Teaching Staff (986/1998). Salary and other terms of employment are determined according to OVTES. The position is subject to a six-month probationary period. In the absence of qualified applicants, other applicants will also be considered. Before accepting the position, the selected person must provide an acceptable medical certificate and a criminal record extract as intended in Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (770/1993) based on the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002).
