Vaasan yliopisto is an inspiring and international community... We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a two (2) year fixed-term employment in the Academic Unit of Management. The open position is located in the field of business administration. Employment begins on 1.10.2026 or by agreement. Your role: As a postdoctoral researcher, you will operate as part of the Strategic Business Development research group and actively participate in the planning and implementation of research projects as well as applying for national and international project funding. The position emphasizes the ability to build long-term cooperation with regional companies, development organizations, and university center consortia, and to identify research, development, and innovation cooperation opportunities arising from the development needs of regional industries. A central part of the position is teaching and supervision work in the Master's Programme in Business Development. Teaching is closely linked to the research and RDI activities implemented in the region, so that students participate in regional development through course projects, company cooperation, and theses. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to have a strong interest in developing research-oriented pedagogy and the ability to integrate research, teaching, and regional impact into a mutually supporting whole. The position requires regular work in the locations of the master's program in Seinäjoki, Kokkola, and Vaasa, so the main place of work is located in one of these cities. We value an experiential and practice-based teaching method and the ability to inspire and challenge especially experienced adult students to combine research thinking with practical business development. Success in the position requires an interest in operating at the company interface, multidisciplinary cooperation, and building research-based learning environments together with regional actors. A central focus of the position is the construction of research-based cooperation and networks, especially in the Kokkola and Seinäjoki regions. We expect the postdoctoral researcher to act actively at the company interface, build national and international research networks, and develop new research and RDI projects together with regional companies and other stakeholders. The annual working time is 1612 hours. Work tasks are agreed upon in more detail in the total working time plan drawn up annually. We expect from you: The person selected for the position is required to have a suitable doctoral degree from the field of business administration or another field suitable for the position. In addition, the person selected for the position is required to have the ability for independent scientific work and the teaching skills required in the position. We value: - experience in research and development projects and the preparation of competitive project funding, - ability to build cooperation with companies and regional actors, - interest in regional development and impactful research, - evidence of research activity and scientific publishing, - interest in the integration of research and teaching, - pedagogical skills and experience in university-level teaching, - willingness to operate in multidisciplinary and network-like operating environments. In addition to the dissertation, research conducted after the dissertation, peer-reviewed scientific publications or manuscripts accepted for publication, as well as possible publications in high-level journals or by publishers, international mobility, and experience in obtaining external funding are considered an advantage. In the evaluation of research, the content (e.g., research topics, methodologies, and significance of results) and quality of the researcher's published production as a whole will be taken into account. Attention will also be paid to the applicant's success in completing doctoral studies (quality, duration) and the applicant's international experience. Teaching merits and pedagogical studies are also considered an advantage. The applicant may be invited to give a teaching sample as part of the assessment of teaching ability. The person appointed to the position is required to master the Finnish language. The university may grant a waiver from language requirements if necessary. Successful performance of the duties also requires fluent English language skills. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance at work is paid, which depends on the experience and skills of the person selected for the position. The salary is approximately 3,630 – 4,080 euros per month depending on the experience and merits of the person selected for the position.
