Come work with us in basic education! We are looking for a SCHOOL ASSISTANT for a permanent employment contract. As a school assistant, you will work in a classroom/classrooms, small groups, or as a personal assistant in various teaching and education environments by guiding and assisting the student. Additionally, you may act as a guide in the morning and afternoon activities of basic education (Jälkkäri activity) and/or in the morning, afternoon, and holiday activities for students with intellectual disabilities and autism (VERTTI activity) or in early childhood education. Your duties may also include school arrangement tasks, i.e., caretaker tasks. At the start of the employment, the position is located at Vaajakummu Comprehensive School. Vaajakummu Comprehensive School is located in Vaajakoski in the city of Jyväskylä. Approximately 580 students in grades 1–9 study at the school. The school currently has six special support small groups: two autism classes, one individual instruction small group, and three regional small groups. Additionally, there are preschool-aged students in the school. Haapaniemi Kindergarten School, where students in grades 1–2 study, is administratively part of the school. The schools have about 80 of their own staff. We offer you a pleasant work community where a good community spirit is cherished! We require from the school assistant a vocational qualification in school guidance, a specialist vocational qualification, or other similar or suitable education. The position requires good interaction and cooperation skills. We value experience working in lower secondary school and a calm guidance approach. You guide encouragingly and can communicate with students. You can work as part of a team and have basic IT skills. The position is located on the lower secondary school side and in general education. Terms of employment are determined in accordance with the General Municipal Civil Service and Collective Agreement (KVTES). The position is part-time. Working time 30h/week. The level salary for a full-time position is €2,395.30/month. In addition, we pay a work experience supplement according to KVTES, which is a maximum of 8% of the position's level salary depending on previous work experience. The position starts on 31.08.2026 or by agreement. The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract as intended by the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002), which must not be older than 6 months.
