Director of Education for the Southern Parish - Tampereen Evankelis-Luterilainen Seurakuntayhtymä - Tampere, Finland

We are seeking a permanent Director of Education for the Southern Parish in Tampere. The Director of Education oversees the entire educational activities of the parish and represents them in governing bodies and internal and external cooperation networks. They act as a supervisor for the parish's education staff and officials, supported by the leaders of early childhood education and youth work teams. The Director of Education is responsible for the budget of educational units, presents regional matters to the parish council, participates in practical educational work as appropriate, and collaborates regularly with other educational directors within the parish union and family center network. We require strong experience in parish education work and leadership. Your educational background should be a relevant higher university degree or other qualification suitable for church education roles, along with sufficient leadership skills. Knowledge of the church's educational specifics and current issues is essential. Experience outside the church sector in education and family activities is also valued, as is communication skills. You will be part of the parish management team, reporting to the pastor. You work independently and proactively but are also part of a friendly, skilled team that supports your work. As a supervisor, you aim to build a well-being-focused work community. You possess excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, a desire to develop, creativity, and adaptability. You enjoy working with children and youth and see collaboration with parents as important. You are familiar with the challenges faced by young people and want to support them. The position will be filled from January 1, 2027, or by agreement. The selected candidate must be a confirmed member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. They must provide a satisfactory health statement and a criminal record extract as per section 6 of the Criminal Records Act. A six (6) month probationary period applies. Excellent spoken and written Finnish skills are required, satisfactory understanding of Swedish, and good spoken and written English skills. The salary is based on the church's salary and employment terms agreement, demanding group 602 (4205.79 €/month). Additional experience-based allowance (140.50 - 513.50 €/month) is paid based on relevant previous work experience. The position is a non-physical, spiritual work role. The workplace is the parish house of Tampere Parish Union. Some work is conducted remotely. Please be prepared to attend an interview on August 17, 2026, if invited.
