Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a Freelance Project Engineer to support a major Water Treatment Plant Construction project based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This is a site-based role supporting the delivery of a large-scale EPC project. Position: Freelance Project Engineer Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands Contract Length: 6 Months Hours: Full Time (40 hours per week) Contract Type: Freelance Start Date: Immediate Start Key Responsibilities: - Coordinate and support the delivery of plant construction activities throughout the project lifecycle - Manage engineering deliverables and ensure alignment with project schedules - Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives on-site - Monitor project progress and provide technical support during construction and commissioning - Review technical documentation, drawings, and specifications - Ensure compliance with project quality, safety, and regulatory requirements - Assist with resolving technical issues and implementing engineering solutions - Support reporting, planning, and project coordination activities Required Experience & Skills: - Proven experience as a Project Engineer on industrial or process plant projects - Experience working on Water Treatment or similar process facilities - Strong background delivering EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects - Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment - Excellent communication and organisational skills - Ability to work full-time on-site in Rotterdam Background: - Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Civil, Process, or Chemical Engineering preferred - Previous plant construction experience essential - Dutch language skills preferred - Fluent English essential
