About the role

As a Financial Specialist, you will be part of Turku UAS's finance team. Your area of responsibility is the financial support of the Business sector in education, research, development, and innovation (RDI), and business operations. You will be responsible for the financial matters of the Business sector and report directly to the Director of the Business sector. You will work in cooperation with the sector's upper management, shared services, and other actors within the Business sector, with the goal of ensuring the overall profitability and success of our university of applied sciences. Your duties include: - Acting as the key user for the TEPPO project portfolio management system, which includes, for example, ensuring the up-to-dateness of system information, creating new projects in the system (other than those created via the idea portfolio, e.g., business projects, new research groups), adding new partners and funders to the system, and providing guidance on system use - Developing the TEPPO project portfolio management system and processes together with other key users (TEPPO key user team) - Coordinating the overall RDI project portfolio of the sector - Providing RDI support within the sector for project staff, research leads, and RD managers - Participating in the RDI finance team, developing RDI-related financial processes and guidelines together with the team, and drafting the sector's own guidelines as needed - Participating in the sector's RDI and other budgeting. WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU? - We expect long-term and effective experience working within a university of applied sciences community, particularly in financial management. - The position requires at least a lower-level applicable higher education degree. Solid work experience in the field of finance is essential. - We emphasize research group work. You have an understanding of how research group work operates and what it requires in terms of financial matters. - You can work fluently in Finnish and English and operate in a multinational professional environment. - We value networking skills and good professional connections. - Your approach to work is positively forward-looking and encouraging. You are able to work during financial management peak periods, such as late autumn budgeting pressure. - The position requires good teamwork and interaction skills. - We also expect solution-oriented thinking, numerical literacy, and a willingness to take responsibility. - Strong Excel skills are central to the role. You will use Excel daily, so we expect fluent command of functions and pivot tables for structuring large datasets. - Experience and expertise in applied research and development, as well as experience in educational planning, will be considered an advantage in the selection process.
