The University Hospital of Oulu has four (4) fixed-term training positions for physicians specializing in pediatric medicine. The positions are filled for the period needed for the candidate to complete the training required by the specialty in a university hospital. The training is coordinated by the University of Oulu. The trainee physician's duties include on-call shifts. In clinical work, support is provided by an attending physician and each trainee has a mentor. A license or permission to practice in accordance with the Health Care Professionals Act 559/94 is required. We will verify original degrees and work certificates during interviews. Applicants must be registered in the Terhikki and/or Suosikki registry maintained by the National Authority for Medicolegal Affairs. The selected person must present a certified extract from the criminal record (Criminal Background Act 504/2002) before taking up duties. Before starting, the successful candidate must provide a medical statement of health status (Act 7§). We apply a probationary period of up to 6 months for civil service; the probation period can be up to half of the service duration in fixed-term employments under 12 months. Regarding vaccination protection, we follow the vaccination protection required by the Working and Communicable Diseases Act.
