About the role

We are seeking an Education Manager for Ahjola Civic Institute for a fixed-term substitute position in the music education area (80% of full-time). The role combines planning, supervision of part-time teachers, practical coordination, concert arrangements, and active participation in the development of the whole institute. Key tasks include planning and coordinating the music education area and ensuring teaching hours, curriculum design and development of the area, daily supervision of part-time teachers, recruitment and induction of teachers and arranging substitutes, planning and implementation of concerts, coordination of purchases, room arrangements and teaching equipment, participation in developing the whole institute’s operations and services, and working as a member of the institute team in cooperation with other teams. You will work closely with the janitorial and customer service teams to ensure smooth operation of teaching, facilities, events and client service. The role is varied; workload and emphasis will change across academic terms. You should be able to plan long-term arrangements but also respond flexibly to changing day-to-day situations. To succeed you should have a suitable higher education degree, experience with administrative tasks in an educational institution, good organizational and coordination skills, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, the ability to make independent decisions and push things forward, and an independent proactive work attitude. We value the ability to manage several ongoing tasks simultaneously and flexibility in changing situations, as well as an interest in developing education and collaborating with diverse people. An advantage is knowledge of the Hellewi course management system and experience in the adult education field, pedagogical qualifications, prior supervisory experience, ability to coordinate several simultaneous tasks, and experience in planning and developing trainings or teaching activities. The workplace is in Tampere, in Pispala, at Ahjolankatu 3. Partial remote work is possible. The role is a fixed-term substitute at 80% of full-time hours. Start by 1 Oct 2026 or earlier by agreement. The term lasts 18 months from start date. Terms follow the Private Teaching Sector Collective Agreement; the training manager belongs to the compensation class 022650. Starting salary at 80% is 2335 €/month. Experience-based increments apply. A 3-month trial period is observed at the start.
